as a space getting started, we are reliant on press, news & other organizations for support in reaching new members, and we welcome interviews, questions & features! please mail to schedule talks, interviews, arrange visits,  or just for more information!

1. Name & Identity

"Stockholm Hackerspace"

The name is always written in full on first reference. On subsequent references within the same piece, "the space* or "the hackerspace" (lowercase) are acceptable.

Short-form / Username

"HACKSTHLM" & "HACKSTHLM.SE"

Used as a display name, username, and logotype. Always written in all-caps with no spaces. Do not write it as "Hacksthlm", "hacksthlm", or "HACK STHLM".

What we are

  • a community of hackers, working to build  a space together!

What we are NOT

  • Do not call us a "startup", "company", "tech lab", or "innovation hub".
  • Do not describe us as a coworking space. We are a member-run community space.
  • We are not affiliated with any university, accelerator, or corporation.
  • We ARE affiliated with IX datorklub &  SEC-T Security Conference

6. Brand Voice

Tone

Casual, Direct, Pragmatic, Inclusive. A bit technical, we are hackers & practicioners! But we aim to be understood quickly by those who need to know

  • Overclaiming: "Sweden's largest hackerspace", "Europe's premier maker community", etc.
  • Corporate framing: "leveraging innovation", "disrupting the maker space", "synergistic community"
  • Diminishing framing: "just a hobby club", "amateur engineers"

7. Referring To Members

Members go by handles (usernames), not real names. Unless they have explicitly consented to be named in press, please default to their handles. This also goes for our photo policy - please ask for permission before taking photos of our members, their projects & their space!
